Week 6 Highlights – Rats, Romance and the Matrix in 10 mins!

Week 6 at Short+Sweet – Wed-Sun at the King Street Theatre in Newtown – has some wonderful romance, comedy, shocks aplenty… plus a rat!

Leading the way in the top 100 main stage program is the hilarious Matrix in Ten Minutes featuring Sam Jenkins and Jim Fishwick. Two stars of Theatresports challenge the clock as they put one bullet, 8 fight scenes and 40 brave characters on an epic journey for sleep!

V.D. by Pete Malicki sees Bridget Jones meet her match when she is invited on a Valentine’s Day date… Lisa Eisman directs Eliza St John. Winner of Best Comedy and Peoples’ Choice Award at Short+Sweet Brisbane 2011.

The Pond, scripted and directed by award-winning writer Con Nats, features Underbelly star Salvatore Coco and Roanna Dempsey in a drama about the two-step tango of relationships, home and children. Powerful stuff from an experienced team…

A Rat in a Hat, by Western Sydney’s Robert Armstrong, directed by Cristina Dio stars Samantha Roylance, Leo Domigan and Damian Hannan. Bickering couple Pat and Matt see a Rat. Enter exterminator Jehosophatt with a hammer to go ‘splat!’. But who is the rat? And who ends up flat?

DateNav – The modern dating game and one man’s quest to use advanced technology to gain an unfair advantage! Steven Tait directs Shiloh Blondel, Paul Musumeci and Yasmin Horner in Gary Dooley’s cautionary comedy.

Burnt Fingers by Kate McDowell sees two students experiment with a risky new career option; when they are implicated in a suspicious death, will Captain Hook and Tinker Bell get away with it?
Stephen Carnell appears in and directs Laura Viskovich and Maite Carvell for Bold Type Ink.

In the Wildcard program (Sat 3pm and Sun 1pm matinees only), Eugene F Raggio directs Ian Hart’s The Truth About Climate Change – a skirmish between a lecturer and a heckling baglady.
Mike Zarate and Marjorie Licett star. Vivian Tselios directs Timothy Hehir’s Clothes Maketh the Man, where William Maitland is a man whose strange experience makes him question existence!

The Tango Partner by Angie Farrow and directed by Brian Perrett stars Chantelle Goulevitch, Hendrik Elstein and Daniele Martineli is a play about sex, jealousy and perhaps murder… Belonging by Laurence Klavan is a four-hander directed by luca de Simon where a psychic finds her latest client might alter her own future… With Leanna Lumb, Sergei Kozul, Gerwin Wijaja and Diab Metry. Train Station by Sally Williams, is directed by Norah George and features Yvette McDonnell and Graham Yates. A couple’s late night meeting… A thriller guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your platform!
